Abbreviations

This pattern is written using standard US crochet terminology.

  • Ch Chain
  • Dc Double Crochet
  • Hdc Half Double Crochet
  • Hk Hook
  • Rem Remaining
  • Sc Single Crochet
  • Slst Slip Stitch
  • Tc Treble Crochet

You’ll use a variety of basic crochet stitches to complete one clover. If you are familiar with the stitches listed in the Abbreviations section, you will have no trouble with this pattern. The clover is worked in the round using two rounds. Beginner’s will find the video tutorial very useful if experiencing problems following the written instructions.

Round 1: Ch 3 and join with a slst to the first chain to form a ring. [Ch 8. Slst in the center of the ring] three times. Ch 10. Slst in 2nd chain from hk and in each rem 8 ch. Slst in the center of the ring.

Round 2: In ch 8 space *(Sc, Hdc, 4 Dc, 2 Tc, Dc, Hdc, Sc, Hdc, Dc, 2 Tc, 4 Dc, Hdc, Sc). Slst in the center of the ring. Rep from * two more times.

Finishing

Fasten off and weave in your ends. You’ll need to Finger block your crochet shamrock to get the proper shape.
